Soprano Marita Bezzina will be performing an extraordinary and enjoyable repertoire called
The Ave Marias on Tuesday, 24
th October 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Oratory of St. Francis in Republic Street, Valletta. She will be accompanied by pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa.
The lunchtime concert boasts of a fine selection of arias enjoying a Marian theme which have been composed in honour of Our Lady. The selection of arias varies from excerpts taken from operas to Maltese compositions. Most of the composers are renowned international giants of the classical music world, such as Verdi, who wrote his
Ave Maria in his opera “Othello”.
Another renowned composer, Schubert also wrote an
Ave Maria, which is one of the most well-known Ave Maria compositions. Following these, there are compositions by Arcadelt, Caccini, Gounod and one by the Maltese composer and musician Mro. Silvio Zammit.
The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone on 79680952 or send an email at:
