Historicamente, \u00e9 especialmente conhecido por um dos eventos mais tr\u00e1gicos que aconteceu em Malta: &#8220;O Grande Cerco&#8221;. Por mais de 30 dias, os turcos cercaram e bombardearam o forte. Quando foi capturado, quase todos os defensores foram mortos (1.500 homens).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alguns s\u00e9culos depois, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, ainda atuou como uma grande infra-estrutura defensiva e foi bombardeada pela For\u00e7a A\u00e9rea Real Italiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10.
